Stanislaus National Forest Issues Fire Restrictions on Moderate and High Hazard Fire Areas

Sonora, CA...With a grueling heat wave persisting over the area and increased fire activity across the region, effective July 9, 2024, the Stanislaus National Forest has implemented fire restrictions in Moderate and High Fire Hazard Areas.

Maps of the affected areas are in the Forest Orders as Exhibit A. Below is a list of prohibited activities with the restrictions:

  • Discharging a firearm.
  • Building, maintaining, attending or using a fire, campfire, or stove fire, except in the Developed Recreation Sites listed in Exhibit C.
  • Smoking, except within an enclosed vehicle or building, within an open Developed Recreation Site listed in Exhibit C, or while stopped in an area at least three feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of all flammable material.
  • Welding, or operating an acetylene or other torch with an open flame.
  • Operating or using any internal or external combustion engine without a spark arresting device that is properly installed, maintained, and in effective working order in accordance with U.S. Forest Service Standard 5100-1. 3

The Forest Order is in effect through December 31,2024.

I have a neighbor that goes through 100-200 rounds of ammunition every Saturday and Sunday. Is this considered illegal if both of our properties are adjacent to the Stanislaus forest land?

A good question for whatever County you reside in, and for the U.S. Forest Service.

The article is about Federal lands - they are usually not in the CDF zone of responsibility.

First off. ALL CAPS is a sign of mental instability. (see Donald Trump)
Secondly, you seem to really be letting this CDF slacker effect our mental stability.
Third. Go to his superiors, CalFire hqs. Turn him in.
Fourth. Get on with your life.

It’s not about neighbor’s it’s about government agencies abusing the system. That being said, this is now the Calfire standard. They all do this so don’t look for any help from supervisors. It would be interesting to know the identifier on the vehicle.
