Greenhorn Creek Hosted National Golf Tournament for Fallen 9/11 Firefighter ~ By John Hamilton
Angels Camp, CA...On September 18th, Greenhorn Creek played host to the Andy Fredericks Memorial Gold Tournament. The golf tournament which draws attendees from all over the US. It is played in honor of one of the 343 Firefighters that perished on September 11, 2001. When we spoke with Greenhorn Creek General Manager Mike Kristoff , it became apparent that this tournament was meant to be played at Greenhorn. From the White Tees on Hole one it is 343 yards to the hole. One yard for every firefighter lost on 911. There is now a small bronze statue signifying this fact on the course. The Tournament is put on by FireNuggets.com. This organization provides "Nuggets" of information on the best techniques and ways to fight fires. Publishers Ted Corporandy and Paul Schuller were on hand to run the show...

According to Mike Kristoff the ceremony on Thursday morning to dedicate the statue with a bagpipe tribute was very touching.
We were on hand for the Bagpipe ceremony and the start of the post golfing activities in the afternoon activities. It is quite an honor to have a tournament of this caliber held here locally each year. One local golf team did very well in the tournament as well.
Events like this really bring home the magnitude on what happened on 9/11/2001. We have video of the bagpipe tribute in the afternoon and also photos of the event.
