Cooling Centers to Open in Calaveras County Due to Excessive Heat Warning

San Andreas, CA...The U.S. National Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning that includes Motherlode Counties from 11AM Saturday, July 15 to 11PM Sunday, July 16. Dangerously hot conditions with temperatures expected to reach 100 to 112 degrees is expected. Extreme heat significantly increases the potential for heat-related illnesses, particularly for those working our participating in outdoor activities. Older adults, children, and sick individuals are also at greater risk for extreme heat.

In response to the excessive heat warning, Calaveras County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA), in coordination with other community partners, announces the opening of cooling centers. These cooling centers will provide a safe haven for residents seeking relief from extreme heat. The specific locations and operating hours of cooling centers are as follows:

In addition to the opening of cooling centers, we would like to remind the community to visit public spaces that can also provide relief during this heat advisory. Local coffee shops, grocery stores, and other public establishments can offer a cool environment for individuals seeking relief from the high temperatures.

Animals are also at particular risk for heat-related illness. Learn more about how to keep your pet safe during extreme heat. Calaveras County Animal Services is extending support to pet owners during this heat advisory. Animal Services have made available a limited number of spaces to accommodate a maximum of five dogs for temporary care of their beloved pets. Pet owners facing difficulties are encouraged to reach out to Animal Services at (209) 754-6866. Animal Services is located 901 Jeff Tuttle Drive, San Andreas, CA.

Heat related illnesses, like heat stroke or heat exhaustion, happen when the body is not able to cool itself properly. When a person’s body temperature rises faster than it can cool itself by sweating, this can cause damage to the brain and other vital organs. It is important to recognize signs and symptoms in order to help those experiencing a heat related illness.

Signs of heat exhaustion include:
• Headache
• Nausea
• Dizziness
• Weakness
• Irritability
• Thirst
• Heavy Sweating
• Elevated body temperature
• Decreased urine output

Signs of heat stroke include:
• Very high body temperature
• Loss of consciousness (coma)
• Hot, dry skin or profuse sweating
• Seizures
• Confusion, altered mental status, slurred speech
• Fatal if treatment delayed

Calaveras County Public Health reminds everyone to:
• Drink plenty of water.
• Stay cool, stay indoors.
• Wear light clothing and sunscreen when outdoors.
• Plan outdoor activities for the cooler parts of the day.
• Pace yourself.
• Stay in touch with your family, friends, and neighbor’s, especially those with health conditions and the elderly.
• Don’t leave children or pets unattended in vehicles at any time.
• Heat stroke is an emergency! Call 9-1-1.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the Murphys Fire Protection District, Calaveras County Library, The Red Cross, Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services, Calaveras Emergency Response Team (CERT), HHSA staff, Calaveras County Animal Services, and other invaluable partners who are working collaboratively to open and operate these cooling centers.

For more information about cooling centers visit Calaveras County website. For details about prevention and signs of heat-related illness, visit www.cdc.gov/disasters/extremeheat/heattips or https://www.ready.gov/heat.

This climate change stuff needs to stop, it's getting out of control. We need to immediately implement drastic measures, like banning all internal combustion engines, no more wood stoves, quit with the natural gas, etc. Common sense stuff. Can you imagine our ancestors having to deal with climate change this bad!?
Greta Thurnberg tweeted in 2018 that the Earth would be dead by 2023 if we don't get this under control. 2023 is half-way over, so we don't have much time left!!! Al Gore predicted that by 2020 all ice sheets would be gone and he was correct, we are going down!
I have been hearing lately that it is possible the sun might have influence over our climate. Now I may only be a under-graduate, but why have we not sent teams of scientists to the sun to try to figure out a solution to this? We went to the moon just to do it, isn't this more important!!
Word on the street is volcanoes also disrupt our greenhouse gases, why are we not stopping volcanoes? Drop a nuclear bomb in them or something! Get it to stop!
We need our leaders to meet more often all over the globe and come up with real solutions. I was so impressed by that European climate minister who biked to the climate conference! Way to show them how we can beat this. Good for you, nice bike by the way. I don't care if she took private jets, motorcades, and biked the last hundred yards. Did you expect her to jog there? C'mon, give me a break!
Myself, I am doing everything I can. Electric everything, loving my Tesla, etc. I don't care if the batteries are toxic and little kids are mining the minerals if it saves the planet. Boohoo to people against it, show us a better solution!
Anyway, I just feel terrible about what is happening to the planet, so sad. Climate stays the same for millions and billions of years and then here we come to take it all down with our stupid lifestyles in a hundred years. Makes me so mad!!!

This makes me so mad!! Libtards actually support this kind of behavior from one of their own:

The rifle-wielding suspect who donned a bulletproof vest before shooting dead five men and injuring two children in Philadelphia has been identified as a Black Lives Matter supporter who shared gun-toting memes on social media.

Kimbrady Carriker, 40, was nabbed shortly after the bloodshed in the city’s Kingsessing neighborhood Monday night, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported, citing sources.

On his Facebook page, Carriker posted two pictures of himself wearing a bra, a women’s top and earrings with his hair braided long in March, three months before the alleged shooting.

He also regularly posts about supporting Black Lives Matter, including supporting workers who protested in the Strike For Black Lives in July 2020.

Police said the 40-year-old male suspect was armed with a rifle, pistol, extra magazines, a police scanner and bulletproof vest when he fatally shot four men on the street and then chased and killed a fifth man inside a home.

A 2-year-old boy was shot four times in the legs, while a 13-year-old boy also suffered gunshot wounds to his legs, according to cops.

The gunman had fired at police as they chased him for several blocks before he eventually surrendered in an alley, Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said.

Go ahead and explain that one waste of life inbred douchebag snowflake ❄️ brainwashed libtards!

President Biden nibbled at the shoulder of a startled little girl during his departure from Helsinki on Thursday.

A video of the incident, which took place as the president greeted embassy staff members and their families before he boarded Air Force One at Helsinki-Vantaan International Airport, shows Biden leaning into a young girl and placing his mouth on her shoulder as he nibbled lightly.

The little girl — who appeared frightened during the experience — later turned her head when Biden, who will turn 81 in November, tried to give her a peck on the head.

Footage from the incident quickly made the rounds on social media, where several users blasted the president for his peculiar conduct.

This has got to be Biden's creepiest moment yet with a child," Caleb Hull, a conservative operative, said of the footage. "All Biden has to do is not do this and he can't," he added in a separate tweet.

Republican operative Greg Price joked that Biden is "now confusing babies with ice cream cones."

Responding to the footage in a tweet, Donald Trump Jr. wrote, "Biden should be in a nursing home, not leading the free world."

"Biden is creepy AF. Why would anyone put their mouth on another person's child like this? This is peak, disgusting pedo behavior," political comedian Tim Young noted in a tweet.

"Keep your kids away from Joe Biden. Gross," Young added in a video about the incident.

Biden pretended to bite the back of this little girl today in Finland," another person wrote in a tweet. "She was, clearly, scared and not amused."

The eyebrow-raising behavior from the president came as he concluded a five-day trip to Europe, where he participated in a Lithuanian summit to shore up support for Ukraine amid its war with Russia and showcase Finland's NATO membership.

This gaffe is the latest in a string of near-constant fumbles by Biden, including last month when he told reporters Putin was "clearly losing the war in Iraq."

Go ahead inbred douchebag waste of life snowflake ❄️ libtards explain this one!
