"Tour Guides" in Mokelumne Hill at Shutter Tree Park This Wednesday!

Mokelumne Hill, CA....If you attend the Calaveras Arts Council’s free “Music in the Parks” concert scheduled for August 6 in Mokelumne Hill, get ready to go on a musical trip. Starting at 6:30 pm in the cozy Shutter Tree Park The Tour Guides featuring Michela Macfarlane will transport you to another destination, with their renditions of numerous timeless songs. .....

Whether it is bossa nova, rock, country or jazz, The Tour Guides’ groove will move you. Vocalist Michela Macfarlane turns the mundane into the sublime with one turn of phrase. She adds an international flavor with her ability to sing in many languages. She is backed up by an eclectic group of local musicians, including Fred Treece on lead guitar, Tim Fay on bass, Sam Nilsen on drums and Ron Schaner on guitar.

It’s no wonder that Macfarlane’s alluringly provocative voice can capture an audience and mesmerize it. She earned two honor degrees in the vocal arts, a B.A. in Music from UC San Diego and a M.M. in Early Music Vocal Performance from Longy School of Music of Cambridge. Twice she walked away with the award for Most Outstanding Graduating Student in Music.

Bring your lowback lawn chairs, paperless picnics and take journey with The Tour Guides. Desserts will be available. To reach this park, from Highway 49 in Mokelumne Hill turn onto Main Street, pass the Hotel Leger, and look for Shutter Tree Park on the right, next door to the Library. Next Wednesday’s free concert from the Calaveras Arts Council will be at Utica Park in Angels Camp featuring a Bay Area rhythm and blues band called Delta Wires. For info call the Arts Council at its San Andreas office/gallery at (209)754-1774 or visit www.calaverasarts.org.
