Ione Police Chief Jeff Arnold to Retire

Ione, CA...After careful consideration, I have decided to formally announce my retirement from the Ione Police Department. My last scheduled day at the Department will be March 31, 2022. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my family, friends, the Mayor and City Council, the City Manager, the members of the Ione Police Department, and especially the citizens of Ione for the support I have received over the years. I could not have achieved my level of success without it.

Police work has evolved since I joined the law enforcement community in 1993. It has become, at times, a thankless and extremely dangerous occupation, especially given the recent events in our country. Many citizens don’t realize the sacrifices, danger, and family hardships involved in police work; but, irregardless of this, our officers willingly respond to any situation to assist the public, many times at their own peril. I am confident that even after my retirement, the members of the Ione Police Department will continue to provide outstanding service to the community.

In closing, it truly has been an honor and privilege to serve the City since August 2005. Ione will always hold a special place in my heart, no matter where the future takes me.
