Dylan Colby Moyle Sought for Death of Matthew Winks

Jamestown, CA...On October 3rd, 2020, at approximately 6:53 PM, The Sonora Area CHP office received a call of a “pedestrian down” near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and 7th Street in Jamestown, CA. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located the body of 42-year-old Matthew Winks of Jamestown. Evidence at the scene indicated Mr. Winks was struck by a white 1998 Ford F-150 pickup with a California license plate number of 8D44514.

During the investigation, officers learned there had been another attempt to run Mr. Winks over a week or so prior. The Sonora Area CHP requested the assistance from the Central Division CHP Investigative Service Unit with this case. After locating and reviewing several surveillance camera footages in the vicinity and speaking to multiple witnesses, investigators identified Dylan Colby Moyle as a person of interest.

After broadcasting a “be on the lookout” for the involved Ford F-150, the U.S Department of Forestry located the vehicle during the day in the Twain Harte Area and it was seized for evidence. Multiple search warrants were offered and the information gathered allowed investigators to obtain a Ramey Warrant for the arrest of Dylan Colby Moyle for 187(a) of the Penal Code, which is the charge for Murder.

Mr. Moyle is believed to be hiding in either Tuolumne County or Stanislaus County. Investigators are also looking into others who may have assisted Mr. Moyle with covering up the crime.

We would like to thank the Tuolumne County Sheriffs Office for assisting the CHP investigators with this case and allowing them to use some Tuolumne County Sheriff’s resources. We would also like to thank the public for sharing the prior Facebook post, which led us to the location of the involved vehicle.

We would ask if you or anyone else has any information regarding this case, please call the Merced Communication Center at (209)356-2900 and request to speak to Investigator A. Palazuelos.
