WWI Exhibit at Ironstone Vineyards Continues Through June 8th ~By Hanna Heath
Murphys, CA….The traumatic World War One began in the year 1914 and officially ended in 1919, when all the treaties had been signed, although fighting had ceased on November 11th 1918. Since then many authentic equipment and artifacts have been found and put into museums, some items in which have never been used. Ironstone Vineyards in Murphys has many unique items on display in their museum……
The items were loaned to Ironstone from a private museum, the name and location of the museum is confidential. WWI had a large impact on the United States and other surrounding counties, and that’s why the artifacts are unique and one of a kind. Such items included in Ironstones exhibit are:
Cavalry Saddle with authentic canteen with leather strap
“Putters” or better known as Leather Leggings
Sam Brown Belt
Grenade Apron
1903 Springfield Riffle
1917 Enfield Remington Riffle
Hand Grenades
Trench Helmet
Mills Amo Belt
Field Packs
They also had four WWI duplicate recruitment posters. “The museum showing will continue through June 8th,” shared Chris Gomez. If you are looking for a historic and interesting museum to visit in Calaveras County, you should visit Ironstone and their WWI exhibit.
