The Frogs are Back in Town....The 2008 Naked Frogs of Calaveras County That is!

Angels Camp, CA...Yesterday the first of the 2008 frogs were uncrated at Middleton's in Angels Camp. According to the Calaveras County Chamber of Commerce's, Diane Gray, "there will be 16 frogs auctioned off for the 2008 Series" The Painted Frogs have been one of the most successful fund raisers in the county. You can find the Frogs adorning the fronts of many of the businesses in the area. We have even heard that you can earn extra community "Brownie Points" if you have managed to amass a collection. The naked Frogs will be beautifully painted and unveiled for adoption at Frog Jump time...

Boeding, Artist Darby, Middleton & Gray pose with the Naked Frog

Each of the Frogs is distributed to local artists for Painting. We saw two artists drop by Middleton's which is the central distribution point.

It's hard to believe that it is the start of Frog Jump Season. From now through May frogs will be the theme of the area. In May the world's eyes turn towards Calaveras County. Angels Camp in particular is blessed with this natural marketing opportunity. For one week each year media outlets from around the world will inquire to see what's hoppening in our area.
