Suspect Arrested After Vehicle Chase in Budget Rental Van

Jamestown, CA...On September 1, 2017, at approximately 7:53 pm, Officer Huddleston observed a white 2012 Ford Budget Rental Van westbound on SR-108 west of Sierra Rock Road, tailgating another vehicle and driving partially on the right shoulder. Officer Huddleston attempted to make an enforcement stop on the van. The van moved into the left turn lane and then turned left onto southbound SR-49 from SR-108. The van accelerated away and crossed the double yellow lines. Huddleston activated his siren and requested a registration/wants check through dispatch. Dispatch advised the vehicle was clear but was just called in for reckless driving.

Officer Huddleston advised dispatch of the failure to yield. The van traveled southbound on SR-49 and reached speeds of 75 mph in a 55mph zone. The van failed to negotiate a curve in the road and collided with a dirt embankment. The van continued southbound on SR-49 until making a right turn onto Sims Road. While negotiating the right turn, the van again crossed the double yellow lines. The van continued westbound on Sims Road, failed to negotiate another turn, and collided through a barbed wire fence. The van accelerated westbound through the field and intentionally turned left, back through the barbed wire fence. The van continued westbound on Sims Road until it turned right onto westbound SR-120.

The van continued westbound on SR-120 and turned left onto Enterprise Road, where Officer McChesney joined the pursuit. The van traveled down Enterprise Road and turned left down a steep embankment. The van drove through the rear of a private residence yard and came to a stop east of a motorhome.

The driver kicked open the driver side door and Huddleston immediately recognized him as Kim Lee Holloway, and knew he had a suspended driver license since he had recently impounded another vehicle of Holloway’s. Holloway was given multiple orders to raise his hands which he failed to comply. Holloway walked around the front of the van and to a table next to his motorhome, where he placed some items down and returned to the van. Upon exiting the van again, he continued to ignore commands. Huddleston took Holloway to the ground and placed him in handcuffs. When asked why he did not stop, Holloway stated he had warrants and that he hated the police. Holloway sustained abrasions to his left elbow and forearm. There were no injuries to CHP personnel. Holloway had two confirmed warrants out of Tuolumne County. Holloway was booked for felony reckless evading, misdemeanor hit and run, driving with a suspended driver license for prior DUI, and the warrants.
