Six Local Students Awarded Career & Technical Training (C&TT) Scholarships for 2016

Angels Camp, CA...Calaveras Community Foundation (CCF) awarded Career and Technical Training scholarships to a total of six high school students during recent award night events. Three Calaveras High School students, two Bret Harte High students and one student from Mountain Oaks will each receive $1,500.

From CHS, Breanna Brumet and Cassidi Carter, both from Valley Springs, intend to study nursing and Ariel Weaver, also from Valley Springs, plans to pursue a degree in computer science.

From Bret Harte High School, CCF selected Angels Camp resident, Caitlin Geto, who plans to study ultrasound and Colton Nordvik of Copperopolis, who wants to become a heavy equipment operator.

Mountain Oaks School senior, Jeremiah Ramirez, from Valley Springs, plans to study welding and agriculture.

Barbara Boyd White, CCF Scholarship Chair says, “Congratulations to all the well-deserving students awarded the C&TT scholarships! These sizable scholarships are available due to CCF receiving many generous donations from individuals and businesses.”

CCF administers the funds that make these C&TT scholarships possible. Since the C&TT fund’s inception in 2011, over $46,000 has been awarded. Business partners who earmark their generous donations to benefit the C&TT fund are Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Sierra Pacific Industries and Save Mart Supermarkets along with numerous individuals and other local businesses.
