It's Rebuilding Time Now That Butte Fire Hazardous Debris Removal Is Completed

San Andreas, CA...Yesterday marked the official end of the Hazardous Debris removal that was done on over 850 properties in the Butte Fire burn area. CalRecycle built a temporary bridge to allow access to 3 properties at the end of Baker Riley Rd. This allowed the last official loads to travel off the properties. 10s of thousands of truckloads and millions of tons of debris have now been removed.

It was a huge effort that employed hundreds and now the focus can shift to post fire rebuilding. Now hundred of structures will need to be rebuilt. Hopefully the hundreds employed in removal can find even longer employment in rebuilding.

Congratulations to the officials who shepherded the process through in a timely manner and let the rebuilding pace accelerate and hopefully Calaveas County can become a model for how to recover after a devastating fire.
