Ill Couger Put Down In Sonora Back Yard
Sonora, CA... 9 Aug. 2015, at approx. 12:50 am, a subject called the police department and reported seeing a large mountain lion in the area of Highway 49 and Columbia Way, inside the City limits. Officers responded and located the lion in the backyard of a residence on the 100 block of Columbia Way...
Fish and Wildlife was requested, and they responded to the scene as well. After observing the lion for approximately half an hour, Fish and Wildlife officials determined the lion was sick and suffering. Unfortunately, because of the animal’s illness, it had to be put down by Fish and Wildlife officials.
It is unknown if this is the same lion which has been seen roaming the area for the last couple of months.
