Local Artist and Newly Published Children's Author to Host Booksigning Event at Sustenance Books on Saturday, December 13th
Murphys, CA...Local artist and newly published children’s author Peggy Huth will be signing books and reading from “Bummer” Saturday, Dec. 13th, from 2-5 pm at Sustenance Books in Murphys. The true tale of a little lost sheep who discovers friends are to be found everywhere, “Bummer” is about a beloved Arnold sheep who moved around, and is illustrated by multiple area artists.....
Bummer was raised in different stages of her life by human “stepmothers.” The story tells how she got her name, how she reacted to being placed in different homes, and her ability to overcome difficulties and make many friends along her journey.
The group of artists have combined their creative talents to create the illustrations for the book, and it was originally self-published in a small printing locally a few years ago, each copy complete with a little sack of Bummer’s actual wool.
Peggy wanted to introduce Bummer to the world and so was thrilled with the permission of the group of artists, and that a tiny New York publisher resonated with the story and picked it up. The newly-bound edition is a tidy and simple treatment of a special little story, with over 16 color reproductions of watercolor, acrylic and watercolor pencil illustrations, all unencumbered by over-design, and delightful to read to kids and yourself, alike.
Sustenance Books is located at 416 Main Street in downtown Murphys, and carries “Bummer.” Charley’s Books & Galleria in Jamestown also has a few copies and both stores take special orders.
Peggy is also represented in collections throughout the U.S. and Europe. This is her first children's book. Bryan Canniff, the book’s designer, works in New York, where he has created many books and magazines for publishers such as Hearst, McGraw-Hill, and The Museum of Modern Art.
