Bear Valley Cross Country & Adventure Company Counts Down To Opening Day

Bear Valley, CA...We've received a lot of rain on top of our snowpack, but we are still hanging in there! This morning we received 1 inch of new snow and now a snowy mix is falling. We hope to open on Sat. Dec. 6th, but will keep you updated. Keep those snow dances going....

Bear Valley Cross Country lies in the heart of the Central Sierra between the Mokelumne and Carson Iceberg Wilderness areas. You will enjoy some of the best cross country skiing on an extensive trail system of over 3,000 acres. Amenities include 38 trails carefully groomed for both track and skate skiing, and snowshoeing, the trailside Meadow Cafe, a complete rental, demo and retail facility, 4 trailside huts, picnic tables, park benches, two kids' ski trails, a waxing hut, groomed downhill practice area and a sledding/tubing facility. The elevation of 7,000 to 7,800 feet guarantees first to open (usually mid November) and last to close (usually mid April) status amoung Sierra cross country centers. Trails are open from 9am to 4:30pm daily.

Bear Valley Village offers a variety of lodging options, all walking or skiing distance from the cross country ski trails. From ski in, ski out cabin rentals, to family friendly condos and a classic ski lodge, you will find a nice place to stay. Bear Valley is a short drive from the Bay Area. With no stop lights for over 35 miles and little traffic and no avalanche areas, all-weather Highway 4 (now a National Scenic Byway) is an easy driving route to your next winter recreation adventure. Nearby Bear Valley Mountain, one of California's finest mid-sized snow sport destinations, has all the amenities you come to expect at a modern area including 9 lifts and nearly 2,000 vertical feet of super scenic runs.

Bear Valley Cross Country ski center converts to the Bear Valley Adventure Company in the summer with bike rentals, sales and repair, flatwater kayak school and rentals, a variety of special events and races and is your connection to all of Bear Valley's summer adventures.

Paul Says:

Tentative Opening Date for Bear Valley Cross Country's Trail System is Saturday, December 6th (snow conditions permitting).

We have snow on the ground and it is currently snowing some more. Higher snow levels have produced a wintery mix for the last day or two instead of just pure snowfall. We will update daily as to the reality of opening groomed trails this Saturday. Our fingers are crossed for a bit more snow. The mountain got open last weekend with skiing on Cub chair and tubing in front of the day lodge. They will be open again this weekend then daily beginning December 13.
