High Speed Internet The Focus Of Tonight's SMUG Meeting
Arnold, CA...Darrel Slocum, Marketing Director for the Central Sierra Connect Consortium, will explain what steps his organization is taking to bring high speed internet throughout the area when the Sierra Macintosh Users Group has its monthly meeting Tuesday, September 9 beginning at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4....
CSC is a collective of influential local leaders, including members from the Boards of Supervisors in three counties, business owners, Internet service providers, and community members working toward widespread broadband Internet access and a high level of digital literacy in the Sierra Foothills.
Seth Summersett, a professional computer programmer, will build on what the consortium is doing and how it affects Mac users. He is a graduate of Bret Harte High School who has gone on to earn a masters degree in computer science. He will be assisted by his mother, Denise, who is one of SMUG’s registered gurus.
Summersett will also give tips on how to get the most out of your iMac or iPad. As always, any computer questions will be welcomed and encouraged.
SMUG meets the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. The organization exists to keep Mac users abreast of the latest developments and to address the nagging questions that arise from time to time. Its goal is to take the mystery out of computers and to enable members to take advantage of all the features their Macs possess.
SMUG was founded in 1995 and is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers. Annual dues are $15. For more information visit the SMUG website at www.SierraMacintoshUsersGroup.org or call 795-3798 or 728-9012.
