Murder Mystery Mornings at Columbia State Historic Park

Join park staff and costumed volunteers in a live reenactment and solve a real case! The Gaherty- Jarvis Shooting which occurred in Columbia in 1856. Now, 158 years later, the public is invited to participate in a “cold case” investigation. Help seek out the truth of this tragic event by watching a reenactment of the events, walking through the crime scene, interviewing “witnesses” and participating in the resulting inquest! After watching the incident occur, the public will have the opportunity to interview the witnesses and participate in a coroner’s inquest to try to decide who, if anyone, is responsible for any crimes that might have occurred....

History’s Mysteries will occur on July 26, August 2, August 16, and August 30, at 10:00 am each morning. As space is limited, reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 209-588-9128. $5/adults and $1/children. Due to the violent nature of this event, parents may find it is not appropriate for children under age 12. However, child tickets are available at $1 each. Each child under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

For more information about this event or other events at Columbia State Historic Park, please contact the park office at 209-588-9128.
