Mike Borean For Supervisor Candidate Update

Hathaway Pines, CA...Thanks, to those who attended the Candidates night at Bret Harte last week. It was a small crowd, but a lot of candidates were there. You can watch the video on the Pine Tree. The fourth and final Candidate Forum will be held on May 6th at Sequoia Woods Country Club in Arnold from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Thanks to the Calaveras County Economic Development Company for sponsoring the event. I have been “hitting the streets” lately and have met some outstanding folks and have shared some very interesting stories. I look forward to meeting you in the coming weeks...

BEAR VALLEY MOUNTAIN COOPERATIVE:

I have been in contact with Steve Troyer who is leading the Cooperative for Bear Valley. Steve told me that I am the first candidate who has reached out to him, and the first to purchase a share in the Cooperative.

In my correspondence to Steve I wrote, “I have been skiing at Bear Valley since lace-up boots and bear-trap bindings. My siblings and my oldest son have been instructors and ski coaches at Bear over the years. The success of Bear Valley is integral to the future success of Arnold and Calaveras County. I am proud to be involved in this exciting opportunity and to be part of the continued success of Bear Valley”.

Steve was gracious to respond with the following: “Thank you for supporting our effort and becoming a business member. It is a great program and benefits for all members. The more we can spread the word that this is a business oriented initiative that is focused on getting local businesses thriving again with a healthy Bear Valley resort.”

LIBRARIES

In my last installment, I spoke of the idea of Yosemite Community College District funding learning centers in each of our eight branch libraries. In my vision, YCCD will purchase and install computer terminals in each branch library and subsidize a portion of the Librarian’s salary. The new computers would be reserved for on-line based college courses and the Librarian would assist the students in signing up for classes and logging into the system.

I met with two members of the Library staff and we are making plans to pursue this concept. Everyone is very excited about this possibility.

FACEBOOK

Please check out my Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Mike-Borean-for-Calaveras-County-Supervisor-District-3/531540246945096?ref=hl). Erin has been posting photos and events. She even found some old video from when I was President of the Calaveras Builder’s Association and was speaking to the Board of Supervisors. There is even an old video of me being interviewed by John Hamilton. Both of us had darker hair back then.
