What has happened to our region? ~Letter To The Editor By Charles E Dudley Jr

Jackson, CA...It used to be back in the day we could call our neighbors and others in the region out on their politics, values, morals and ethics with NO repercussions besides our region becoming stronger as a whole? So what happened? What started the down hill trend where now even some of the old timers just shake their heads and allow those moving into the region to set precedence over what happens in our region?

My view? Seriously? It is some who have moved in from other areas after screwing up their own areas or out living their welcome there bringing their same old ways with them who more than likely said to themselves "Oh let's move up there where we can start all over and begin an entire new life and leave our old ways behind" only to after moving into the region continue in their same old patterns of screwing up another region all over again. It is just like the Alcoholic or Drug Addict thinking they too can move to get away from their old friends and dealers only to find new friends and dealers to continue in their disease only in a new location. I'm by no means saying all who move into our region are bad as we have had some great people doing great things who have and do respect our regions, it's traditions and yes our old ways of life but there are those who really should have been turned around at the county line and escorted back to their original homes. Does that make me or others who think as I do an Isolationist or a Preservationist? Good question isn't it and one the old timers reading this can ask themselves.
