George Duda 1923 - 2013

Murphys, CA....George Duda died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at his residence in Murphys. He was 89. He was born Nov. 12, 1923, in Lorain, Ohio. Mr. Duda was a 50-year resident of Murphys. For 50 years, he owned a construction company that built residential and commercial buildings. He also built boats and airplanes for the U.S. Navy out of Pensacola, Fla. He was a philanthropist and an avid fisherman and golfer. He was also a strong supporter of the Highway 4 corridor....




Mr. Duda is survived by his daughters, Dianne (Barry) Wood of Liberty Lake, Wash., and Georgeanne (Dan) Castle of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Gary (Krista) Duda of Arnold; a step daughter Paula (Aldie) Broglio of Angels Camp, eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Cicka Duda, and his second wife, Anne Pecchenino Duda.

There will be a viewing from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Angels Memorial Chapel. A Mass of Catholic burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Murphys. The interment will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Murphys. Followed by a memorial at Angels Camp Gun Club at Frogtown from on Thursday October 3rd 2pm-6pm.
