Marilyn Bolei Devoted Wife, Mother, and Grandmother 1936 - 2013

Arnold, CA...Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Marilyn Kay Bolei passed on Thursday, August 22nd after her long battle with pancreatic cancer. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 54 years France Bolei, hers son's Thomas and Ronald, her grandsons Andrew, Grant, Benjamin, and Devon, and her brothers Jeff, Dale, and Bruce Tozier. Marilyn was born in August of 1936 in San Francisco, California to the parents of Ronald and Ruth Tozier. Marilyn's parents pushed her across the Golden Gate Bridge in a stroller the day it opened when she was just a few months old. Marilyn also performed as a dancer at the 1939 World's Fair in San Francisco when she was only three years old. Marilyn graduated from San Francisco's Washington High School in 1954, and she married France Alfred Bolei on October 31st, 1959 in Santa Cruz California...

Marilyn was a constant volunteer with her sons' activities including room mother at their elementary schools, PTA officer, team mom, bowling league secretary, and den leader. Many of her sons' friends thought of Marilyn as a second mom, and she enjoyed setting up excursions for her sons and their friends. Marilyn also held several jobs including telephone operator, candy striper, Avon sales person, librarian, substitute teacher, and head score keeper for the Professional Bowlers Association when their tournaments came to San Jose, California.
One of Marilyn's interests was traveling. She and her husband enjoyed car camping throughout California and a good portion of the Western United States when their children were young. The family lived in Germany and explored Europe on three separate occasions in the early '70's when her husband was sent to Germany as a military contractor. Marilyn also enjoyed taking cruises to many exotic places, and she and one her best friends enjoyed a trip to China together. One of Marilyn's favorite travel destinations was anywhere she could enjoy a fun trip with her grandchildren, such as Disney World.

Marilyn and France build their second home in Arnold, California in 1977. They moved from the Bay Area to Arnold fulltime in 1994 when France retired. In retirement, they had continued to travel frequently. Marilyn was also a member of the Sierra Rovers RV travel club, the Nine Holers ladies golf group at the Sequoia Woods Country Club, and the Bear Valley Ski Club.

Her enthusiasm for life well be missed by all of her family and friends.
