Visit California Showcases the Best of Calaveras in 2013 Vacation Guide ~ This Weeks CVB Feature

Angels Camp, CA...The official Visit California 2013 California Vacation Guide is now available online and will be available on newsstands in April. But why does that matter to us folks here in Calaveras County? The annual California Vacation Guide and the CVB’s ongoing marketing partnership with Visit California are among the most powerful destination marketing tools Calaveras County has to attract tourists to the area (which is why we’ve advertised with them for years). Through extensive national and international ad campaigns and media outreach, Visit California serves as our voice to a broader market. With their help, other regional marketing partnerships like our involvement in the Gold Country Visitors Association (GCVA), the High Sierra Visitors Council (HSVC), and our own outreach and promotional efforts, Calaveras County sees more than 1 million visitors annually and over $150 million in traveler spending...

And because those numbers are so important to our local economy, the CVB is extremely proud to announce that this year’s California Vacation Guide, which will be seen by more than 1.5 million people worldwide, highlights a number of Calaveras businesses and tourist attractions. Our partnerships with Visit California, the GCVA and the HSVC, as well as our regular attendance over the years at California media events, has helped bring Calaveras to prominence and gained us the attention we deserve.

The 2013 guide, which was created by the editors of Sunset Magazine, features rafting adventures with world-class outfitter O.A.R.S. of Angels Camp, calls out Mineral Restaurant in Murphys as a trendsetter in California cuisine and names The Victoria Inn, also in Murphys, as a top romantic retreat. Additionally, in its specific Gold Country and High Sierra sections, the guide highlights other gems like Greenhorn Creek, Big Trees State Park, Moaning Cavern Adventure Park and Bear Valley. Our wineries are not left out though, and in one of the guide’s feature articles, potential visitors will also read about our thriving wine scene. Here, Ironstone Vineyards, Twisted Oak Winery, Lavender Ridge and Black Sheep get their chance in the spotlight. And guess who made it on the pullout map? O.A.R.S and Moaning Cavern Adventure Park!

Having our attractions and businesses showcased in the state’s number one marketing piece is something that the CVB believes we need to celebrate and tout as it’s vital to our economic livelihood.
