Candlelight Service for Alex and Macaila. The Embrace Before Goodbye. ~By John Hamilton.... Update: ThePineTree.net will be Webcasting the Memorial Service
Angels Camp, CA...(Update...ThePineTree.net will be webcasting Alex and Macaila's Memorial Service starting at 11am on Saturday for those of you who will not be able to attend in person) Tonight the Candlelight Service for Alex and Macaila Marshall was held at Bret Harte on the Quad. Images from happier times were up on the screen as the Bret Harte Community came together to embrace the memories of their now departed friends. The beautiful, vibrant faces on the screen were a reminder of how great and painful a loss this is for the community. They spoke of how close the brother and sister were, their personalities and impact on their friends lives. This week will be filled with memories that will forever be etched on the minds of the students. I was speaking with a Bret Hart Alum today and this week brought back memories for him from the 1980s when students were lost in a car crash. As the years slip away into memories for the young faces that watched their friends on the screen we hope they can take solace in the knowledge that the now fresh wounds will close into scars and as time passes the scar's color will fade but the lines left behind will always remind them of their friends and their losses...
Photos are Above and Video Clips are Being Uploaded and Will Be Enclosed...
The students started off the night talking about their friends. This was followed by the candle-lighting that gradually spread the light throughout the crowd and Refuge Pastor Shawn McCamey gave a brief closing message.
Tonight was special in the way that it showcased what this community is all about. When one is down the community shows up. There will be a Memorial Service in the Bret Harte Stadium on Saturday at 11am. Bret Harte will keep Alex and Macaila in their embrace until then and afterwards they will slowly let them slip away into fond but bittersweet memories.
If you are seeing this without the benefit of context Alex 17 and Macaila 14, perished in an apparent murder suicide at the hands, unbelievably of their father Phillip Marshall probably last Friday and were discovered on Saturday afternoon when friends went to check on them at their home in Forest Meadows.
Editors Note: I grabbed an older camera for use tonight that I forgot the auto focus is noisy in low light conditions as it tries to lock in. Now I remember why it is no longer my primary camera. It is fine in light conditions.... Sorry
