Bear Valley 2012 Wintersport History Night on December 8th!

Bear Valley, CA....The Ebbetts Pass Historical Association (EPHA) will host its 8th annual WinterSports History Night at the Bear Valley Lodge on December 8th @ 7:00PM in the aesthetically inspiring Cathedral Lounge. The event is produced each year to acknowledge individuals, organizations and businesses that have helped extol the wintersports community along the Highway 4 corridor and to evolve and grow throughout Ebbetts Pass’ rich history. The event is free and open to the public...

This year’s event will feature a retrospective on the Bear Valley Ski Team, a lifetime achievement award for former Mt. Reba Ski Area’s president, Dennis Rasmussen, the showing of Lindsey Vonn’s documentary, “In the Moment” and bestowing the prestigious Peter Brinkman Award given annually as recognition of an individual(s) or organization that has significantly contributed to the promotion, marketing and growth of wintersports activity for Bear Valley and beyond. Previous Peter Brinkman Award recipients have included: Maury Rasmussen, Bruce Orvis, Paul Petersen and Bob Shedd.

This year’s recipients of the Peter Brinkman Award are Jerry and Kay Mettler who owned or ran ski shops in Stockton and at Mt. Reba Ski Area for decades and introduced many Stockton area and Central Valley skiers to the various collection of ski resorts in the Central Sierra and specifically Mt. Reba, now known as Bear Valley Mountain.
