Calaveras Arts Council Kicks Off Music in the Parks with Coyote Hill...Tonight!!!

Copperoplis, CA>.Calaveras Arts Council’s Free Music in the Park Series kicks off this year in Copperopolis at the Town Square on June 13. Remember to bring your picnic baskets, favorite beverage and low back chairs. Music begins at 6:00 pm. Music in the Parks opens up with foothill favorites, Coyote Hill. The band has performed all over the northern California and beyond for private parties, community agencies and groups. They’ve played for Music in the Parks in the past, and are returning with new additions both in performers and repertoire....

Coyote Hill has been performing together and presenting their own style of acoustic Americana music for seven years with song writer, Richard Sholer on acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica, Dick Todd on banjo and Rick Barlow on fiddle. With the recent addition of Stan Emmons on Bass and Bob Lehmann on Drums, more musical territory has opened up for the group. Richard added his electric guitar to the mix and Dick is playing acoustic guitar and banjo. They affectionately refer to their full band as Mighty Coyote.

Coyote Hill/Mighty Coyote, is a good-time acoustic/electric band, playing all styles of Americana music ranging from the rootsy sounds of old-timey, bluegrass, blues, swing and jazz, to country and folk-rock sounds reminiscent of the 60s and 70s. Some songs tell true stories and some are just for the fun of it. These easy-going guys make their gigs relaxed and enjoyable for music lovers of all ages and different walks of life. Songs range from the old-timey/ blue-grassy sounds of Olla Belle Reed, Tim O’Brien and Gillian Welch, to the new-grass and country folk-rock sounds of The Band, The Eagles, Gram Parsons, Rodney Crowell, and in between you can hear a little jazz and swing from Antonio Carlos Jobim to Bob Wills."

The Copperopolis Town Square is located off Highway 4 in Copperopolis. Take Highway 4 West from Angels Camp and travel about 12 miles until you see the Town Square on the left. Park on the streets and enjoy the walk. The next Music in the Parks concert is June 20 at Angels Camp, Utica Park. Descendents of Prospectors will perform 3-part harmony with innovative rhythm -- forging new genre. For more details and to download a schedule visit www.calaverasarts.org or call (209)754-1774.
