Forest to hold open house for Candy Rock Quarry
Sonora, Calif. (March 13, 2012)…The Forest Service will hold an open house next week to discuss the recent proposal on the management of recreational target shooting at the Candy Rock Quarry near Hathaway Pines, California. The proposed action would include setting permanent limitations on recreational target shooting, including hours of use, and changing road management for the site...
The open house will be held on Monday, March 19 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Independence Hall on Blagen Road in White Pines, California. Since the meeting will be an open house, participants can join and depart at any point in the three hour window.
The Candy Rock Quarry Management proposal is currently in the public scoping phase, which guides the development of an Environmental Impact Statement. During this initial scoping period, comments on the proposed action should be submitted by April 13. Comments may be submitted to Stanislaus National Forest; Attn: Candy Rock; 19777 Greenley Road; Sonora, CA 95370. Comments may be submitted by FAX (209) 533-1890; or, by hand-delivery to the address shown above, during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Oral comments must be submitted via telephone by calling (209) 532-3671 ext. 350. Electronic comments in acceptable plain text (.txt), rich text (.rtf) or Word (.doc) formats may be submitted to comments-pacificsouthwest-stanislaus@fs.fed.us with Subject: Candy Rock.
