Forest to prepare Environmental Impact Statement for Candy Rock Quarry
Sonora, CA…Stanislaus Forest Supervisor Susan Skalski today announced that the Forest Service published a Notice of Intent to prepare an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for Candy Rock Quarry Management in the Federal Register. The proposed action would include permanent limitations on recreational target shooting, road management and other management features at the Candy Rock Quarry near Hathaway Pines, California....
“Public participation is important at numerous points during this analysis. At this time, the Forest Service seeks information, comments and assistance from federal, state, and local agencies and individuals or organizations that may be interested in or affected by the proposed action,” said Skalski.
The Notice of Intent initiates the scoping process which guides the development of the EIS. During this initial scoping period, comments on the proposed action should be submitted within 45 days of the date of publication of the Notice of Intent in the Federal Register. Comments may be submitted to Stanislaus National Forest; Attn: Candy Rock; 19777 Greenley Road; Sonora, CA 95370. Comments may be submitted by FAX [(209) 533-1890]; or, by hand-delivery to the address shown above, during normal business hours (Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.). Oral comments must be submitted via telephone by calling (209) 532-3671 ext. 350. Electronic comments, in acceptable [plain text (.txt), rich text (.rtf) or Word (.doc)] formats, may be submitted to comments-pacificsouthwest-stanislaus@fs.fed.us with Subject: Candy Rock.
