“Dog Day Afternoon is a tradition for Copperopolis Town Square and attracts all species of canines from across the region,” says Linda Stefanick, Vice President and Event Director for Castle & Cooke Calaveras, Inc. “We invite the community to come even if you don’t have a dog, enjoy lunch at one of our restaurants and listen to live music.”

Admission is free and entry fee for each participating dog in the parade is $5.

Parade awards will be provided to “Top Dog (large, medium, small and tiny),” “Best Valentine Costume (male and female),” “Best Owner & Dog Costume,” “Ugliest Mug & Sweetest Face” and “Sweetest Valentine (male and female).” Not all awards require costumes.

About Copperopolis Town Square

Copperopolis Town Square is a town center with deeply-rooted historical underpinnings. Developed by Castle & Cooke and designed by Rudy Ortega, it is a fresh approach to retail and residential that integrates historical awareness, environmental sensitivity and architectural appreciation into a country town setting. At its core is a neo-traditional urban design philosophy that emphasizes pedestrian-oriented retail and pedestrian-friendly streetscapes that create a socially interactive user experience. A limited number of residential luxury lofts are available, starting in the low $100,000s for those looking for a foothill get-a-way or a place to enjoy the small town lifestyle. The architecture is reminiscent of the mid and late 1800s, capturing the essence of the Sierra foothills gold country and creating a sense of place that is missing from so many retail centers in the U.S.
