Ebbetts Pass Fire Welcomes Fire Engine T-431

Arnold, CA...The Ebbetts Pass Fire District has added a 1989 Pierce Ladder Truck to its apparatus fleet at the District's headquarters in Arnold. Having served the public in Daly City for the North County Fire Authority (NCFA) the Truck was to be declared surplus in 2010. Deputy Fire Chief Frank Panacci notified retired Assistant Chief Don Cucci and retired Daly City Chief Bob O'Donnell of the impending NCFA action. Chief O'Donnell, an Ebbetts Pass Fire District property owner, contacted the District to discover if there would be interest in acquiring the Truck....

After consultation with the District's Board of Directors and the Ebbetts Pass Firefighters Association, NCFA's current Fire Chief Ron Myers was notified that the Ebbetts Pass Fire District was interested in acquiring the aerial truck. The District was given first option for purchase and the truck received by the District in January 2011.

Renamed T-431, the Pierce Ladder Truck features a 105' hydraulically activated main ladder with a remote nozzle at the end of the ladder capable of flowing over 1500 gallons per minute onto a structure fire. Additionally, Truck 431 has an independent ladder complement consisting of 5 other ladders ranging in size from 12 feet to 40 feet long.

Supporting rescue, hazardous material containment, fire suppression, ventilation, laddering and overhaul operations, Truck 431 will be responding from Ebbetts Pass Fire District Station One to incidents throughout the Fire District and to mutual aid requests from other Fire Districts in Calaveras County.
