Call for Applications for 2011 Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant...Entry Form Enclosed
The Junior Miss Calaveras Pageant and Junior Frog Jump will be held concurrently on Saturday, May 14 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Altaville Melones Fire Department in Angels Camp. The Junior Miss Calaveras competition is open to 8th grade girls in Calaveras County. The contestants are judged on beauty, personality and pleasantness by a panel of experienced judges and raffle ticket sales. The winner will be announced during the Junior Frog jump and she will be presented at the Calaveras County Fair the next week. All interested 8th grade girls are encouraged to apply.....
Detailed flyers outlining the contest was given to the offices of all 8th grade schools in the county during the week of March 14.
The duties of the Jr. Queen include participation in many of the holiday parades and special events that take place throughout the county in 2011-2012.

Jr. MISS CALAVERAS CONTESTANTS
QUALIFICATIONS AND RULES FOR JUNIOR MISS CALAVERAS
Contestants entering the Junior Miss Calaveras Contest will be judged on Saturday May 14, 2011 at 10:30 am at the Altaville Melones Fire Department.
Junior Miss Calaveras will be selected as follows:
30% Beauty- Face and Figure
30% Personality- Pleasantness voice quality & manner
30% Poise & charm- walk, carriage & gracefulness
10% Ticket Sales (See below)
Dress: Appropriate dress is required, for example, a dress and shoes suitable for graduation ceremony. Examples of inappropriate dress are: jeans and t-shirt, overly revealing clothing, cocktail dresses, flip flop sandals, etc.
TOP FIVE TICKET SELLERS WILL BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING PRIZES
Ticket sales prizes will be as follows:
FIRST----------------$100.00
SECOND-------------$50.00
THIRD----------------$35.00
FOURTH-------------$25.00
FIFTH---------------- $15.00
To be eligible for the Queen contest each contestant SHALL sell 300 tickets. They will be judged as explained on your entry sheet. When your entry is received you will be provided with tickets. The tickets will be sold for 50 cents each. You may have all your friends sell for you, but be sure to tell them to have the phone number and address and name of the ticket buyer so they can be contacted if they are the winner.
Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the Altaville Melones Fire District volunteer firefighters association. These monies are used for various services including victim relief and bereavement, firefighter equipment purchase, and contributions to worthy community causes.
A ticket drawing will be held at the Queen contest. The winners of the ticket raffle will receive an HDTV, a paid weekend at Carson Valley Inn or one of many prizes obtained from local merchants. The winner need not be present to win.
The girl chosen for the Junior Miss Calaveras will receive a four day pass for herself to the fair.

Each contestant shall be responsible for the value of the tickets received by the contestant for the sale. Each contestant shall remit 50 cents for each ticket to the Altaville Melones Fire Department for each ticket not returned to the Fire Department complete with both halves. By their signature below, the undersigned parent or guardian agrees to accept responsibility for payment of money due for tickets by this contestant.
ALL TICKETS WILL BE TURNED INTO THE ALTAVILLE MELONES FIRE DEPARTMENT ON TUESDAY MAY 3, 2011 AT 6PM AT THE ALTAVILLE MELONES FIRE DEPARTMENT. NO EXCEPTIONS UNLESS PRIOR ARRANGEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE!!
