The Friends of the Calaveras County Fair is an action based group committed to improvement and historical preservation of the Fair. Every year the Friends hold a community raffle called the “Pot o’ Gold”. Participants have a chance to win $11,000. The proceeds from the raffle have assisted the Friends with two major projects; a sign at the Fairground’s south entrance and the new Ranch House venue.
Several other Calaveras County organizations assist the Fair. The AMA Boosters Club park cars during Fair. San Andreas Community Covenant Church cleans up trash. Feeney Park and the Veterans of Foreign Wars serve beer. The Calaveras County Junior Livestock Boosters assist in price boosting for exhibitors who did not earn enough money to cover average project costs. There are many opportunities for community groups to get involved.
Organizations or individuals who wish to participate in the Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee should contact the Fairground office at 209-736-2561. All committee meetings are open to the public and welcome new volunteers and ideas.
