Calaveras Visitors Bureau Now Using QR Technology to Market Calaveras!

The Calaveras Visitors Bureau has just launched the use of innovative QR code (Quick Response code) technology for marketing Calaveras County to the users of Smartphones, sophisticated mobile devices. A QR code is a two-dimensional matrix bar code with a “hidden message” that identifies products. Customers and potential customers are directed to a message by scanning and photographing QR codes with their Smartphones.    This allows businesses to educate and entice customers with special offers, discounts or other information they want to communicate. Through the CVB’s QR codes, visitors can immediately be linked to the CVB’s website or can be led to a landing page with a specific message to that user.....

“We strongly believe that this technology will drive more traffic to our website and promotions thereby increasing Calaveras County’s visibility to potential tech-savvy visitors. Additionally, our QR codes are available on the Visitors Center bulletin board to capture after-hours visitors, instantly linking them to where to stay, what’s new and what to do while in Calaveras County. They could even book hotel or dinner reservations right from their Smartphone if they want to,” stated Lisa Mayo, Executive Director for the CVB.

The CVB is using the QR code technology in print ads as well. The first print ad to boast a QR code will be in the May issue of Sunset Magazine. “Technology advances everyday and we need to keep up with it. By keeping up, we are giving greater value to our marketing partners and greater visibility to Calaveras County,” stated Mayo. “This is just the beginning of incorporating this technology into how we market, welcome and move visitors throughout Calaveras County.”

Many CVB partners including the Cooper House Bed and Breakfast in Angels Camp and Twisted Oak Winery in Vallecito have already integrated QR codes into their business marketing.
