New this year will be specific clinics for experienced alpine skiers that are “tele-curious” and want to experience the thrill of learning something new. “Telemark skiing is a great way to improve your alpine skiing” says festival director Aaron Johnson. “Often alpine skiers hit a plateau and telemark skiing helps them break out of this rut by teaching a balanced and stable stance which leads to better overall skiing technique. Plus telemark skiing it’s a fun and stylish way to ski.”

Loyal festival attendees love the event and return year after year. Regular festival participant Saskia Lucas explains: “I’m always a better skier after the Telefest than when I arrive. The clinics help me improve much faster than I would on my own and the instructors are incredibly friendly and skilled. It’s also fun to meet telemark skiers from all over the state. I love the chance to ski and socialize with this great community”, explains Saskia.

The festival officially begins on Friday, February 11th at the Bear Valley Mountain Resort and continues through Sunday February 13th. Folks can attend as little or much as they choose. Each day offers telemark ski instruction from the most talented pool of professional telemark ski clinicians assembled in the West. Sunday includes backcountry ski tours and continued clinics at the ski resort.
