Blue Bird Day~by Teri Slankard, The Cabin Realtor
Dorrington, CA....WEATHER: Sunny with a bright blue background for snow laiden trees and freezing temperatures here on our mountain. I would have written about this last 2 day storm - but we had numerous prolonged power outages. We may have got 10 to 12 inches of new snow from this past weekend- a new storm was scheduled to come in this Friday, but the weatherman decided to change the forecast to a maybe on Sunday - but not .....

sure if anything will come of it. Temperatures conitnue to loom just below 30. Morning lows have dipped to 17, 15 and a day before the last storm rolled in the Husky witnessed meadow 6 degrees reading. Snow bombs have yet to make their way off the tree limbs. Power and phone lines haven't shaken their load completely either.
BERM HEIGHT: 6-8Feet in most places. 8-10 on corners, most road signs are covered.
ROAD CONDITIONS: Hwy 4 is fairly clear with some black ice between Murphys and Bear Valley. A few trees droped , a very noticeable large one just before Meko Dr. and there is a small skinny one laying over the 4 just before you get to Dorirngton - it hasn't fallen - it just looks like it wants to.The subdivision roads have improved but still sport a lot of heavy packed snow - a few roads (mostly in Snow Shoe Springs) are still only single lane. It's nice when people share the road. Another Road Conditions note: Pot Holes have surfaced on the 4 between Arnold and Avery - they aren't small and right where your wheels need to be. There are a lot of them.
POWER OUTAGES: Extended power outages hit our area Saturday and Sunday. Flickers continue to keep us from getting much of anything done even into today. Some phones are working again - but not all - some areas of Dorrington have been out for weeks now.
AT THE PUMP: I saw $ 3.27 in Arnold again.
WILDLIFE REPORT: Fed lil' birds and the squirrels some left-over cereal today. Also put out some warm water for them to drink. A blue jay took to the drinking water like it was happy hour at the Slankard's Cabin.
