2010 Vineyard Tour & BBQ Friday, July 30, 2010

The Calaveras Winegrape Alliance Presents their 2010 Vineyard Tour & BBQ
on Friday, July 30, 2010. Tour Specialist, Dr. James Wolpert, CE Viticulture Specialist, UC Davis. Specialties include: Wine grape production in coastal areas, Sierra Foothills and northern San Joaquin Valley. Variety, clone and rootstock selection; propagation; trellising; training; and nutrition. The 2010 Vineyard Tour is open to the public and three hours of DPR credit has been approved. The BBQ is for CWA members, CWA associate members, and guests of Calaveras Winegrape Alliance. Please Carpool. No dogs....


Format: The Vineyard Tour is an educational program and is open to the public. At each stop there will be general discussion about the vineyard operation, followed by a question and answer session regarding specific pest management, irrigation, fertilization, and other cultural practices. A general wrap-up of the day will be given at the evening BBQ. The vineyard tour registration fee is $15/person and includes lunch. There is limited shuttle service available during for tour for $25 per person which includes lunch. Reservations are required for the Vineyard Tour, shuttle service and the BBQ. Registration and reservations must be made no later than July 23rd by calling Anna at (209) 728-9467 or cwa@goldrush.com.

* Dragone Ranch 10:00-10:45

Leave Murphys north on Sheep Ranch Road. Pass Mercer Caverns. Turn left on San Domingo pass winery to first gate on the right, Travel to top of hill.

* Dalton Vineyard 11:15 –12:00

Leave Dragone, turn right on San Domingo Road, and continue to Dogtown Road. Don’t get discouraged on road condition it is a county road! Turn right on Dogtown too Esmeralda. Left at stop sign to vineyard. Park along road. Lunch is here

* Clondaire Vineyard 1:15 – 2:00

Leave Dalton heading west on Dogtown Road. Turn left at Fourth Crossing Road to Hwy 49. Right on 49 to San Andreas, go through San Andreas to Pool Station Road. Left on Pool Station to 7965. Left into driveway right to barn.

* Gerber Vineyard 2:30 – 3:15

Leave Clondaire Vineyards. Left on Pool Station Road to Hwy 4. Left on Hwy 4. Through Angels Camp to Six Mile Road. Left on Six Mile Road to Laraine Winery, can’t miss it.

* Ayrael Vieux Vineyard 3:45 - 4:30

Leave Laraine, return to Hwy 4. Left on 4 pass Vallecito to Douglas Flat, in Douglas Flat turn right on Monge Ranch Road, cross bridge to sign area on right. Back to Hwy 49 and turn right. Turn right on Pennsylvania Gulch Road to Feeney Park.
