Angels Camp, CA...Denise Ferrin suggested "Monty" as the name of the new Angels Camp "Base Camp", "Launching Pad for Adventures" rough and ready Frog Mascot. Greenhorn's Buck Reed, the head of the naming committee presented the prizes to Denise and led the discussion on the naming of Monty. The "Full Monty" will no doubt be one of the taglines as outdoor enthusiasts go all out in their recreational activities. Congrats to Denise as she walks away with Rafting Trips from O.A.R.S, Zip Line tickets from Moaning Caverns, Golf Lessons from Greenhorn Creek, Lift Tickets for Bear Valley, a backpack from Vintage Realty also included were gift certificates from Mountain Pedaler & Glory Hole Sports...

The naming of the Frog is the culmination of two year branding process for Angels Camp. During the last two years the process has moved from concept to implementation.
Research was done to define branding opportunities for our region. The Brand Leadership Team searched high and low and it was discovered that one of the best strategies to differentiate our area and increase tourism opportunities is to promote and brand Angels Camp as the perfect destination to launch into all of the myriad of activities Calaveras County affords.
Now that the Mascot has been named, trademarks registered and plans have been laid you will no doubt start seeing a flood of materials including "Monty".
One can almost see the promotional efforts for the upcoming October "Tough Mudder" contest that will be drawing up to 5,000 contestants in on one of the toughest strength contests that will be drawing national attention to our area.
