Miss Calaveras Contestants Announced

Angels Camp, CA.....Seven bright talented young women will be competing for the title of Miss Calaveras and a $1,000 scholarship. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship pageant is an eight week program that culminates in the stage competition at the Calaveras County Fair. The Program offers more than $2,700 in scholarship monies for contestants. In April the seven contestants will begin a rigorous rehearsal schedule. They will be schooled in interview skills, etiquette, public speaking and talent. The competition comprises of four areas of focus, personal interview, health and fitness, evening gown and talent. five member judging panel. The judges are selected by the competition’s sponsor, the Angels Murphys Rotary Club, and reside out of the area. In addition to the top three scholarships, Sonny and Sharon Canepa sponsor five special awards.

The 2010 slate of contestants include Amada Owens, Ashley Chase, Rebecca Fischer, Stacey Harrington, Rebecca Gilbert, Jessica Evans and Katherine Jones. The young women with the Saddle Queen contestants will be participating in the Coranation Ball on May 7. The Coranation Ball is annual celebration hosted by the Friends of the Calaveras County Fair. The Miss Calaveras Scholarship Pageant will be at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 13 on the main stage at the 2010 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee. The Master of Ceremonies is John Brophy and the Pageant Director is Mrs. Lacey Neufeld.
