Follies Reservations Now Available
Frogtown, CA...The reservation line is now open for the 2010 Calaveras Follies taking place April 17, 2010 at Frogtown. This year’s show features a new twist on the familiar concept – “The Commencement Performance,” in which local celebrity “students” lip-synch songs about their future. This hilarious collection of snippets from a famous commencement speech is being compiled by Mark Wilson and directed by Terri Wilson...
Reservations can be made by calling the Follies message phone (209) 536-6302. Admission to the Follies is still only $50 per person (credit cards accepted). There is reserved seating so the sooner reservations are made, the better the seats.
Every year Ed and Joan Lark are the first to make reservations. “We’ve seen all the Follies right from the beginning,” remarked Ed. “We enjoy the Follies so much that we wouldn’t think of missing it.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. in Mark Twain Hall and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. featuring a cast of 80 with more than 20 outrageous acts by well-known community members. The Follies is the big annual fundraiser for the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program. Included in the evening festivities are gourmet appetizers, no-host bar, and an elegant raffle of donated items showcased in gift baskets valued at more than $500 each. As is the Follies tradition, “Frog Oscars” will be bestowed upon the best of the best after audience votes are tallied.
Calaveras Follies is presented by Calaveras Youth Mentoring volunteers, Frogtown and Murphys Creek Theatre. For information on the Calaveras Youth Mentoring Program and to find information about becoming a mentor, call 736-6078 or visit online at calaverasmentoring.org.
