Ladies of Valley Springs Good Samaritan Church Spread Some Holiday Cheer!~ By Tammy Beilstein

Valley Springs, CA.... On Saturday, November 14th, the Covenant Women Ministry Fellowship held its Holiday Boutique at Good Samaritan Church in Valley Springs. Hundreds of people came to shop, mingle and fill their bellies at the event which included scores of booths selling handmade wares, baked goods and brand new items. This holiday affair is a yearly occurrence and its purpose is twofold. In part, the Fellowship hopes to raise money by way of booth rentals and the donation of raffle items, but the boutique also presents a way for the Church and Women’s Group to provide outreach to the .....

community. In fact, this year’s Holiday Boutique happened to mark a special anniversary for one of the women operating a booth. She attended last year’s boutique as a vendor and so loved being among the other women involved that she continued to attend the church regularly and is now celebrating one year with her new, extended church family.

Money raised from this event is used by the Covenant Women Ministries group specifically for partnership and support. Group President, Sandie Lohsen said “With the funds our women raise throughout the year we are able to help support 5 missions, send Bibles to the Armed Forces, send Spanish Bibles to Mexico, give aid to the Crisis Center in San Andreas, sponsor Norma Bonds’ Christian radio program called ‘A Woman’s Special Touch’ and give support to to our group’s major project.”

The major project chosen by the Covenant Women Ministry Fellowship at Good Samaritan Church is called “Break the Chains, A Partnership Addressing Human Trafficking”. According to a Women Ministries of Chicago brochure, this venture supports two components of anti-trafficking: directly ministering to prostitutes through sharing the love of Christ, and actively rescuing and restoring trafficked people through the judicial system. It takes on average $1,000 to free one sex slave. The Valley Springs Women’s Group has so far raised $6,200 for this cause.

With its food pantry, support groups, Sunday school, traditional and contemporary church services and more, it is apparent that the Good Samaritan Covenant Church has something to offer everyone in the community. If you would like more information about the church, the Covenant Women Ministry Fellowship or any of their services or events, please visit their website at www.gsccc.net or call (209) 772-9548.
