Columbia Wine Tasting, an Afternoon of California Wines and Culinary Delights

More than 60 of California’s premier wineries have now signed up to participate in the 33rd Annual Columbia Wine Tasting on Sunday, Apr. 19 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Along with the wineries, several popular local food purveyors -- including the Columbia College culinary and pastry arts students – will also be featured. During the event, guests can sample wines and hors d’oeuvres at numerous tasting stations located throughout Columbia State Historic Park, a restored gold rush mining town.....

Sponsored by the Columbia College Foundation, proceeds from the tasting will benefit the Columbia College Culinary Program and its students. Funds will be used for student scholarships and supplementary educational support materials for the department.

Among this year’s participating wineries are Acacia Winery, Ahnfeldt Wines, Amador Foothill Winery, Bantam Cellars, Bell Wine Cellars, Big Horn Cellars, Black Sheep Winery, Bodega del Sur Winery, Bogle Vineyards, Brice Station Vintners, Bridlewood Winery, Chatom Vineyards, C.G. Fireside Laser Arts will be on-hand to etch individual names into the wine glasses.

"Along with a large number of food concerns, we will have the biggest collection of wineries that we've ever had," said Tom Bender, Columbia College wine instructor and an organizer of the event for more than 30 years. "It's a great chance to taste premium wines from long standing California vintners such as Rombauer, Rosenblum, Seghesio, Frank Family, Schramsberg, Silver Oak and Grgich Hills, along with many rising stars from our Sierra Foothills."
