Hey Good People!! Opening Day is Today for Bear Valley! Your Pure Mountain Fun Awaits!!

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/25/2022 08:50 AM
Bear Valley, CA...Hey Good People! Opening day is today!!!! A mostly sunny day is ahead with the daytime high coming in around 44F with a lite SSE wind. Yesterdays projected high of 44F came in at 51F and the overnight low just barely went to 39F in the last hour. We will see temps cooling a bit in the next 48hrs before a quick system arrives and brings a possible 1-2″ of new snow beginning late Sunday evening into Monday. The system is slowing down and drying out somewhat so Monday morning into mid-day looks to be the time slot for snowfall which should fall down to the 3500-4000′ range as cooler air arrives with that system.

The Pilgrim Story "Bradford's History of 'Plimoth Plantation" Full Text & Audio

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/24/2022 11:29 AM
Plymouth, MA...Much of the American Story of leaving oppression, self government & pioneering a new life comes through the story of the Mayflower, Plimoth Plantation and Colony. From the Mayflower Compact to working with and befriending the Native Americans our Thanksgiving Story starts here. Much of it stems from the account of William Bradford. This strips away what people say about what happened and takes it back to a first person account. On Thanksgiving we thought it would be a good time to post it in its entirety in both full text and audio format from project Gutenberg and Librivox. Click any of the images below to take you to the Full Text & Audio.

Murphys, CA… Black Sheep Winery arrived in Murphys with the 1984 harvest. From that first harvest we produced our 1984 Amador Zinfandel. The wine was styled in a big, bold way like nobody else could do. That’s what makes us Black Sheep; we’re different from the rest of the flock. We feature small batches of limited release wines handcrafted from high quality grapes grown in Calaveras and Amador Counties. We produce about 2,500 cases of wine per year, specializing in Zinfandels and Rhone varietals.

Sender’s Market Thanksgiving Ad & Grocery Specials Through November 29! Shop Local & Save!

Posted by: thepinetree on 11/23/2022 08:50 AM
Mountain Ranch, CA…In 1950, we started out as a family operation with Erich’s father and mother, August and Freida Sender, in a century-old adobe building. The upstairs was home to the Sender family, and the first floor included groceries, a meat market, a bar, and a small eating place called Opa’s Smokehouse. On Christmas morning in 1968, the old store was destroyed by fire. But in June 1969, Sender’s Market, Inc. was opened. Since that time, there have been many changes, including remodeling, expansion, and the addition of many employees. That’s also when we added the truss plant and purchased Sender’s Market Ace Hardware in Valley Springs. Today, we’re still family owned and still working hard to stock everything from pantry essentials to power tools. Whether you’ve got questions about the perfect cut of meat or the right kind of paint, our helpful, knowledgeable staff has you covered. Click on images below for larger versions.
