Sierra Macintosh Users Group Meeting April 9
Arnold, CA...NETWORKING WILL BE THE TOPIC AS SMUG MOVES BACK TO ARNOLD - The many ways to network will be the topic when the Sierra Macintosh Users Group (SMUG) moves back to its warm-weather meeting place in Arnold for its Tuesday, April 9 meeting that will begin at 7 p.m. in the assembly room of the Ebbetts Pass Fire District, 1037 Blagen Rd., just off Highway 4.
Brian Thomas, Technology Specialist and Trainer for the Calaveras County Office of Education, will be making the presentation and leading the discussion. “Whether you're connecting your MacBook to the Internet, or sharing photos between your iPad and Apple TV, you're using some sort of networking technology,” he says.
Thomas will walk users through the best practices in creating and securing a home or small office network. Members will learn about different wired and wireless technologies (Ethernet, Wi Fi, Bluetooth), the equipment used (Routers, Access Points, Modems), and the proper way to ensure that a network is safe and secure.
“As always, come with questions or challenges and we'll do our best to help solve even the most complex issues,” he promises.
SMUG meets the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings are open to everyone and there is no charge to attend. The organization exists to keep Mac users abreast of the latest developments and to address the nagging questions that arise from time to time. Its goal is to take the mystery out of computers and to enable members to take advantage of all the features their Macs possess.
SMUG was founded in 1995 and is a non-profit organization run completely by volunteers. Annual dues are $15. For more information visit the SMUG website at www.SierraMacintoshUsersGroup.org or call 795-3798 or 728-9012.
