Murphys, CA...Deep Thicket Dwellers, a San Francisco Bay Area-based band with ties to Anchorage, Alaska, is a musical ensemble that weaves together bluegrass, gypsy jazz, country, and old-time fiddle music. Arnold, CA...Barbara “B” Vahle passed away peacefully on June 26, 2024. Born in Evanston Illinois in 1934 she moved to Southern California in 1955. She raised her five children in Northridge and retired to Arnold in 2001. B was preceded in death by her loving husband Lee in 2020. She was preceded in death by her son Torey and her daughter Tracianne, and is survived by her children Tricia, Teglene, and Trevor. She was a beloved teacher and mother who loved to be outdoors hiking and doing yard work.

Washington, DC...The Supreme Court’s ruling in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo is yet another deeply troubling decision that takes our country backwards. Republican-backed special interests have repeatedly turned to the Supreme Court to block common-sense rules that keep us safe, protect our health and environment, safeguard our financial system, and support American consumers and workers. And once again, the Supreme Court has decided in the favor of special interests, just as it did when they sought to gut long-standing protections for clean water, thwart efforts to respond to a global pandemic, and block the cancelation of crippling student debt for tens of millions of Americans.
Governor Newsom Says "California Beats Big Oil – Again"

Sacramento, CA...California notched another victory against Big Oil. The industry announced it is pulling its referendum aimed at repealing California’s law protecting neighborhoods from the dangerous impacts of drilling. The measure that would have appeared on this November’s ballot could have allowed the oil industry to keep drilling new wells within 3,200 feet of homes and schools and operating existing wells without critical pollution controls.

Mokelumne Hill, CA...The Moke Hill Lions Club is hosting the July 4th Main Street Parade and Events in Mokelumne Hill on Thursday, July 4, 2024, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Main Street will be closed to traffic from 7:00 AM To 7:00 PM. The Parade will begin at 11:00 AM and will conclude by 12:00 PM.
Raleigh, NC...President Biden is holding a rally on Friday, his first campaign stop after his stumbling performance in the Thursday night presidential debate. Biden will be joined at his rally by rappers Fat Joe and E-40, who will each perform for the crowd. North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper (D) and Attorney General Josh Stein (D) will also be in attendance.
