Justice Department Launches the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center

Washington, DC.....The Justice Department launched the National Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO) Resource Center (the Center) which  will provide training and technical assistance to law enforcement officials, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service and social service providers, community organizations, and behavioral health professionals responsible for implementing laws designed to keep guns out of the hands of people who pose a threat to themselves or others.

“The launch of the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center will provide our partners across the country with valuable resources to keep firearms out of the hands of individuals who pose a threat to themselves or others,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland. “The establishment of the Center is the latest example of the Justice Department’s work to use every tool provided by the landmark Bipartisan Safer Communities Act to protect communities from gun violence.”

ERPO laws, which are modeled off domestic violence protection orders, create a civil process allowing law enforcement, family members (in most states), and medical professionals or other groups (in some states) to petition a court to temporarily prohibit someone at risk of harming themselves or others from purchasing and possessing firearms for the duration of the order.

In 2023, the Justice Department’s Office of Justice Programs (OJP) awarded $238 million to states, territories, and the District of Columbia under the Byrne State Crisis Intervention Program (SCIP), which was created by the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and is designed to help jurisdictions implement crisis intervention strategies, including ERPO programs. In addition, OJP awarded $4 million to support training and technical assistance under Byrne SCIP, including $2 million that was awarded to the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions to establish the ERPO Resource Center. In collaboration with OJP’s Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), the Center will support states, local governments, law enforcement, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service providers, and behavioral health and other social service providers in their efforts to implement ERPO programs to fit local needs, share resources and promising practices with the field, and help ensure that funding received through Byrne SCIP is effectively utilized.

“Supporting our law enforcement and community partners in curbing the scourge of gun violence is more critical than ever,” said Acting Associate Attorney General Benjamin C. Mizer. “In addition to other resources leveraged across the Justice Department, this Center will provide communities with new tools and technical assistance to help them implement effective crisis intervention strategies and reduce gun violence.”

“OJP’s investment in ERPO programs demonstrates the Department’s commitment to addressing the gun violence crisis in the United States,” said OJP Assistant Attorney General Amy L. Solomon. “This crisis cannot be solved at one level of government. We must use all of our resources and collaborate at the federal, state, and local levels to find innovative, evidence-based, and holistic solutions to help keep American communities safe.”

Through the Center and its newly launched website, states, local governments, law enforcement, prosecutors, attorneys, judges, clinicians, victim service providers, and behavioral health and other social service providers will have direct access to critical information that will enhance their ability to reduce firearm homicides and suicides. The website will be maintained and updated to include newly developed resources for the field created through the Center, in partnership with BJA. The website also provides a platform for the Center to highlight emerging and promising practices in successful ERPO implementation and connect states and localities to innovative strategies to reduce gun violence and save lives.

As of this month, 21 states and the District of Columbia have enacted ERPO laws. Successful and effective ERPO implementation requires a comprehensive and holistic approach that incorporates a wide range of stakeholders. The Center is designed to provide resources consistent with that need.

A whistleblower recently told House investigators the CIA intervened to stop the IRS from interviewing a key associate of President Joe Biden's son Hunter Biden.

The revelation was disclosed in a letter Thursday from Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., chair of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, chair of the Judiciary Committee, to CIA Director William Burns. Comer and Jordan are spearheading the impeachment inquiry into allegations of influence peddling and other corruption by the president and members of his family.

The whistleblower said that in August 2021, IRS investigators were preparing to interview Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer and associate of Hunter Biden, as part of the investigation that began in 2018 into alleged tax crimes committed by the president's son.

But the CIA intervened to stop the interview, Comer and Jordan wrote. Two Department of Justice (DOJ) officials were allegedly summoned to CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, for a briefing regarding Morris; and at that meeting, they were told Morris could not be a witness during the investigation.

"It is unknown why or on what basis the CIA allegedly intervened to prevent investigators from interviewing Mr. Morris," the lawmakers wrote. "However, these allegations track with other evidence showing how the DOJ deviated from its standard investigative practices during the investigation of Hunter Biden."

The lawmakers requested Burns provide by 5 p.m. April 4 all documents and communications from the DOJ/IRS investigation of Hunter Biden and all documents and communications regarding Morris, including efforts to interview Morris as part of that investigation.

This is not the first instance of a federal agency trying to stonewall the tax investigation into Hunter Biden. Two IRS whistleblowers, Gary Shapley and John Ziegler, told House investigators last year that the DOJ ran interference for Hunter Biden by preventing other witnesses from testifying and barring tax investigators from asking questions that could lead to him.

Morris testified Jan. 18 as part of the impeachment inquiry, describing Hunter Biden as a client and "one of my closest friends." He said he made loans totaling $5 million to Hunter Biden, some of which to help with his tax debt.

An attorney for Morris clarified in a letter to the Oversight Committee's general counsel the total amount Morris lent to Hunter Biden was $6.5 million from Oct. 13, 2021, to Dec. 29, 2023.

Hunter Biden faces a June 20 trial date on nine federal tax-related charges in California regarding an alleged conspiracy to avoid paying more than $1 million in taxes. He has pleaded not guilty in that case. He also has pleaded not guilty to charges of unlawfully purchasing a revolver while using illicit drugs and lying on federal forms about his drug use when he bought the weapon. His trial in that case is set to start June 3.

I hate to tell the first poster but the left are the ones who commit the most gun crimes in this country. They're the ones who are the overwhelming population of our prison system. That's another reason why Democrats always try to pass voting rights to felons even if they're in prison.

PS: A judge ruled even an illegal immigrant can legally own a gun for protection in America as long as they haven't been convicted of a felony.

YOU CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP, AND DUMBACRAP POLITICIANS DON'T GIVE A DAMN OUR COUNTRY, JUST THEIR LUST FOR CONTROL OF POWER

Due to safety concerns, Mayor Adams and his team can’t visit the southern border for two days. City officials said the U.S. State Department flagged one of the areas in Mexico. It wasn’t even safe for a weekend trip, and it’s certainly not safe for our Border Patrol, DPS, National Guard, and other law enforcement or for people who live on the border.

The Gothamist writes: While speaking on “The Reset Talk Show” on Friday, Adams said he planned to meet on Saturday with “national immigration leaders who all applaud what we have done.”

AWOL Fed Atty General

Garland has shown for years, he is a loyal partisan who will not defend our Constitution, or do his duty to protect America from a coup attempt on Jan 6 2021.

The Republican party is a RICO criminal enterprise, that ignores the law and our Constitution well proven over and over. The Republican party places parety over our laws, and Constitution, seen by the party US Senate refusing to indict a clear traitor d.j.t 2 x . Firstly with the Mueller report which showed clear attempts by d.j.t. to extort the leader of Ukraine to manufacture a scandal against Biden.
Secondly the US Senate Republicans ignored the evidence, documents, audio, video of d.j.t calling for a crowd of his followers to march to the US Capital and trash it, they did, gallows were set up, and the rioters attempted to find VP Pense, and Speaker Pelosi to hang, or kill both.

The Republican party is ignoring the missing 9" binder of US intel documents, deemed very sensitive, also many boxes of classified documents still are missing that d.j.t took illegally from his WH office.

Where is our Atty General? He is AWOL.

We are living a lawless time when the laws, and our Constitution is ignored by a political party that clearly is allied to Russia, and it's dictator Putin.

America is sliding into a corrupt country the same corruption seen in other countries.

The oath of office sworn to by those in our Congress, VP, President to Republicans is a big lie to be ignored.

To choose party over our laws, and Constitution is being a traitor.

(Reuters) – A third democrat was charged on Thursday with murder after a gunfight on the fringe of a Super Bowl victory rally in Kansas City, Missouri, last month killed one person and wounded more than 20 others in a quarrel over eye contact, prosecutors said.

Terry Young, 20, faces second-degree murder, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action charges for opening fire during an altercation on Feb. 14 near the city’s landmark Union Station, Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker said in a statement. The incident occurred while throngs of fans had gathered to celebrate the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl win over the San Francisco 49ers.

President BiDumb and First Lady both Won't pay their Fair Share of Taxes= HYPOCRITES
Posted on: 2024-03-24 09:19:18   By: Anonymous

Strange how Joe says rich don't pay their fair share on taxes as they go thru the same loopholes

Lunch Bucket” Joe Biden, champion of the union worker and little guy, likes to bash millionaires and billionaires for “not paying their fair share” to the IRS.
But the president knows a little something himself about making millions and working the tax code to pay as little as possible on his wealth.

His good-for-me-but-not-for-thee hypocrisy is exposed in the footnotes of Special Counsel Rob Hur’s recent report on Biden’s purloined classified documents.

When Hur investigated Biden for the government theft, he examined all the files FBI agents seized from his homes and offices, which also contained personal folders with the Bidens’ financial information.

The prosecutor dug through them searching for a motive for Biden hauling off hundreds of classified materials when he left the vice president’s office in January 2017, and he said he found one: good old-fashioned greed.

Profit motive
A month after leaving the White House, Biden shared some of the classified information with the ghostwriter of his lucrative memoir, according to Hur’s report.

“Mr. Biden had long contemplated writing a book about his vice presidency,” Hur wrote.

And one of the reasons for writing one, according to an entry Biden jotted down in a notebook, was “profit.”

Within days of Biden’s staff packing up 15 boxes containing classified materials from his West Wing office, the departing veep finalized a deal with Creative Artists Agency, a talent agency that negotiated his book deal for “Promise Me, Dad,” with Macmillan Publishers’ American imprint Flatiron Books.

The book contract netted Biden an advance of $8 million.

On the same day, Biden also signed an agreement with the University of Pennsylvania to teach classes and run the Penn Biden Center in Washington.

Though he never taught any classes, he pocketed close to $1 million.

The diary entry also referenced Biden’s plans to create a so-called S-corporation to shelter his income and trim his tax bill, according to Hur.

Biden signed a tax form listing himself as president of an S-corp, CelticCapri, on Jan. 30, 2017 — fewer than three weeks before Hur said Biden disclosed classified secrets to this ghostwriter, Mark Zwonitzer, who was not cleared to receive such sensitive government information.

Later that year, UPenn and Flatiron sent their millions in checks not to Biden, but to his S-corp CelticCapri. In addition, hundreds of thousands of dollars in income from the Washington Speakers Bureau, a group that booked speeches for Biden, was routed through the S-corp.

Jill, too, gets a break
Around the same time, wife Jill Biden formed another S-corp — Giacoppa (named after her grandfather Gaetano Giacoppa) — as a pass-through for additional household income from her own literary earnings and speaking gigs.

In 2017, the Bidens declared a whopping $11.1 million in joint income, which was almost double what they had made in the prior 18 years combined.

More than $10 million of that windfall flowed through their two S-corps, CelticCapri and Giacoppa.

In 2018, another $3.2 million flowed through these S-corps.

The income diversion helped the Bidens save hundreds of thousands in taxes.

That’s because the S-corps allowed them to pay their “employees” (that is, Joe and Jill) in two ways: wages and distributions.

The Bidens avoided paying income tax on whatever portion they didn’t report as wages.

Take their 2017 S-corp tax filing, for example.

Despite the $10 million windfall that year, their S-corps paid out modest salaries to the couple — a joint $245,833 — and treated the rest of the income as a non-wage “distribution,” which wasn’t subject to the 15.3% combined Social Security and Medicare tax.

S-corps are perfectly legal.

Biden was certainly allowed to do what he did.

But his shielding of income makes his claims that the wealthy aren’t “paying their fair share” a bit rich.

In unveiling his new budget proposal last week, Biden scolded “high-income individuals who too often avoid paying their lawfully owed taxes” through tax breaks.

He complained they “make their money in ways that are often taxed at lower rates than ordinary wage income, or sometimes not taxed at all, thanks to giant loopholes and tax preferences that disproportionately benefit the wealthiest taxpayers.”

Biden proposed a billionaire minimum tax of 25%, while promising to protect and strengthen Social Security.

“Look, I’m a capitalist,” Biden said.

“If you want to make millions of bucks, that’s great. Just pay your fair share in taxes.”

You first, Mr. President.
