Thomas Diamont 1932 ~ 2024, Memorial on May 6th

Angels Camp, CA...Thomas Diamont, 91 years young, passed away on April 19th, 2024. He was pre-deceased by wife Jean in 2007, sweethearts for over 60 years. Tom is survived by his 3 children, Sandra (Brad) Peterson, Tom (Miguel) Diamont, and David (Carrie) Diamont, all of Murphys CA. Spending time with his children and grandchildren and extended family was his greatest joy since moving from Los Altos to Murphys over five years ago.

An engineering graduate of Georgia Tech, Tom had a full and exciting career as an industrial engineer, designing manufacturing plants, primarily in the field of pharmaceuticals. After moving his young family from New Jersey to California in 1967, he worked on groundbreaking projects for Syntax Laboratory, Alza Pharmaceuticals, and ended his career as a VP at Genentech. After "retirement" the United Nations asked him to head up a project in communist China where he designed and oversaw the construction of the first sterile manufacturing plants in the country.

Through his career, Tom and Jean traveled to many countries, even taking youngest son David with them to China. Tom enjoyed many hobbies, primarily rebuilding '65 Mustangs, and after retirement, golf. He had many passions but 3 loves. God, Family, Country. After which, in no particular order: Mustangs, Merle Haggard, and ….Golf! He will be missed profoundly by all that had the pleasure of calling him friend.

Memorial service will be held Monday May 6th at 4 p.m. at the Angels Memorial Chapel, 1071 S. Main St., Angels Camp, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Hospice of Amador and Calaveras.
