"Yummy New Year's Beverages"~by Jenny Baxter of Jennys Kitchen

Happy New Year Readers, Every host/hostess should have a nonalcoholic beverage in his/her repertoire: interesting combination's for drivers and nondrinkers or simply a refreshing change from intoxicating drinks. A nonalcoholic cocktail needs personality. It should taste so good that the person consuming it doesn’t notice the absence of alcohol! makes for a more complex drink with greater depth of flavor. Fruit juice is the base ingredient in many nonalcoholic cocktails. Grapefruit or cranberry juice will bring a welcome tartness to many sweet juice combination's and freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice adds a zippy tang to the drink. Sparkling apple juice or ginger ale can be used in place of the wine in champagne cocktails to make some interesting beverages, and club soda adds length to many juice based mixtures. Gingerroot, vanilla extract, crushed mint leaves, grenadine or orgeat (almond syrup) all add a layer of complexity. If you have a reaction to alcohol then stay away from Angostura or other bitters which contain some alcohol
