Hwy 4 Reopens Through Aero Fire Area
Copperopolis, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announced that State Route 4 (SR-4) in Calaveras County has now re-opened to traffic after a full highway closure due to the Aero Fire near the town of Copperopolis.
Route 4 was initially closed in both directions at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17, 2024, due to fire activity. The westbound closure was placed at Poole Station Road while the eastbound closure was first in place at O’Byrnes Ferry Road, before shifting to the Stanislaus/Calaveras County line. Eastbound motorists on SR-4 were detoured at Milton Road, while westbound SR-4 travelers were diverted at Poole Station Road.
Route 4 was safely re-opened to traffic at approximately 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.
