Central Sierra/Hwy 4 Fishing Report for May 7th, 2008~By Bill Reynolds

Sierra stream fishing has been hit and miss at most locations. Access to the Stanislaus River was limited to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Boards Crossing Road in Dorrington. The Gate to Beaver Creek through Sourgrass crossing is now open. NCPA anticipates having Spicer open by Memorial weekend, depending on the snowmelt and weather. For an update on the road to Spicer you can call 209-728-1387. Alpine still has quite a bit of snow around it. Hobart Creek is not open until JULY 1ST 2008!.....

Sierra stream fishing opened Saturday, April 26, 2008. It was a busy weekend as access to the Stanislaus River was limited to Calaveras Big Trees State Park and Boards Crossing Road in Dorrington. New Melones Fishing Report for 4/21/08~By Glory Hole Sports

Water Conditions: New Melones Lake is currently holding 1,436,802 acre-feet of water. The lake water level dropped almost two feet last week and is at 996 ft. above sea level and 92 ft. from full capacity. Water in the main lake is approximately 61-63 degrees. All ramps are in the water. Angels Boat Ramp is the shallowest ramp. If the water level drops another 21 feet, it will come out of the water, which it does quite often in the summer......

Changes ahead for the Mark Twain Recreation Area Lake Access at New Melones Lake

Sonora, CA...The Bureau of Reclamation announces that New Melones Lake will change the public use of the Mark Twain Recreation Area Lake Access, located near the Park Administration Office and Visitor Center, beginning Tuesday, April 1, 2008. The public use will change from launching trailered boats of any size to launching small boats by hand only....

More Than 150 Anglers Participated in the Annual Trout Derby Today!~By Hanna Heath

Angels Camp, CA…. Today, more than 60 boats averaging 150 people participated in the annual Trout Fishing Derby at New Melones Lake in Angels Camp. The competition began at dusk (6am). Fishermen from all over Northern California came to compete for two titles and grand prizes. The two competitions were biggest stringer “The Biggest Fish” and top four, two fish stringers “Best of Two”....
