Warmth, Artistry, & Visions of Grandma's House On Display At Quilt Fair
Murphys, CA...The Independence Hall Quilters held their 36th Annual Mountain Heirloom Quilt Faire at Ironstone this last weekend. With names like "Blackberry Pie a la Mode" and other homy titles the beautiful and intricate quilts on display harkened images of Grandma's house, milk and cookies, and cozy warmth on a cool winter night...

One of the largest quilters guilds anywhere is based right here in White Pines and meets weekly at Independence Hall. The Quilt Faire is one of their big events of the year and the intricate and touching quilts on display always summon a range of emotions.
Many of the quilts have an intimate family connection like the quilt made by the mother of a young man who bravely served his county. She turned his old uniforms into a cherished family heirloom.
Some quilts celebrated a time, place or other such memorable moment that filled them with meaning far beyond the beauty they show on the surface.
In addition to the beautiful quilts hanging like tapestries in the music hall there is also a bustling marketplace with everything needed to start your own quilting adventure.
We tried to get a shot of every quilt on display so even if you couldn't make it by you could get a touch of the warmth and skill on display.
