"Voices of Wisdom" Adult Writing Classes
The third session in this series offers new activities to unearth the often-hidden golden nuggets of remembrances. Teacher-guide Sally Kaplan, writer, editor, and film and television producer, leads participants in writing exercises to remember specific places, relationships to historical events, and reveal the individuality of each life story. In a relaxed cooperative workshop setting, participants spend time in the recall and writing of memories. A focus on Calaveras County, its history and participants’ place in it, serves as the overarching theme.
This project has been made possible through a generous grant from the Calaveras Community Foundation.
Classes on Wednesdays October 4,11,18,25

Bear Valley Season Premiere and More At GABA Meeting Monday Night
Arnold, CA...Bear Valley opens for the 2017-2018 season on November 24, and boy do they have great news. Come to hear about the new lift that carries six people per chair and other improvements to enhance your mountain enjoyment. General manager Andrea Young and director of resort revenue Rosie Sundell will lead the presentation followed by Q&A.
When was the last time you visited Calaveras Big Trees State Park? The volunteer association is spearheading some significant improvements and president Rod Smith will be there to show us all what’s happening.
Bear Valley and Big Trees park draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the greater Arnold area each year. To a large extent, these two attractions are the lifeblood for our community, resulting in jobs and revenue. So please join us Monday at 6:00 PM at the Ebbetts Pass Fire Station on Blagen Road. We’ll meet in the training room, accessed from the rear parking lot.
