High Speed Unlawful Passing Takes Four Lives in Violent Bonds Flat Road Head on Collision

La Grange, CA...On May 31, 2024, at approximately 5:09pm 56-year-old Michael Keith of Stockton was driving his 2020 Chevrolet 1500 pickup northbound on Bonds Flat Road, unlawfully passing another vehicle over the double yellow centerline in excess of 100 miles per hour while approaching the T intersection with La Grange Road. Also in the vehicle were his passengers 66-year-old Donna Yarnal of Modesto and 65-year-old Cindi Schuchterman of Salida. At that same time, 33-year-old Janelle Hall of La Grange was driving her 2005 Toyota Highlander southbound on Bonds Flat Road from La Grange Road at approximately 45 miles per hour.

73 Year Old Texas Woman Loses Life in Hwy 120 Head-On Collision

Groveland, CA...On May 29th, 2024, just before 1:00pm, 73-year-old James Brent of Humble, Texas was driving a 2024 Kia Forte westbound on State Route 120, west of Smith Station Road along with his 73-year-old female passenger also from Humble Texas. At that same time, 25-year-old Andrew Burney of Truckee, Ca was driving a 2013 Kia Soul eastbound on State Route 120, west of Smith Station Road. For an unknown reason, Mr. Brent allowed his vehicle to travel over the double yellow line, directly in the path of Mr. Burney’s vehicle. As a result, the front of both vehicle’s crashed into each other head-on.

Kennedy Meadows, CA...The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) formally reopened Sonora Pass on State Route 108 at 3:00 p.m. yesterday after five weeks of snow removal operations. Our District 10 Long Barn and District 9 Sonora Junction Maintenance crews made great progress clearing Sonora Pass this season exceeding our annual goal of reopening State Route 108 prior to Memorial Day.

Students who completed Firefighter 1 and 2 were awarded their certificates on May 2, 2024 at Columbia College in Oak Pavilion.
